So... What a nasty summer it's been so far... Laura and I are both swamped by day our jobs and what little time we have had to get some music done have been devoted to recording vocals for Somegirl. So, needless to say, the new album is a little behind.
It gets frustrating. I hear some great music at work and when I work out -- actually, it's all I do all day, pretty much. Work on my laptop and let iTunes go wild on random. I'll hear something I really inspiring, and I get excited to get home and work on it. Somehow the night gets away from me, and I'm left with only half an hour to work on tracks... Rinse, repeat for the last two months...
But it's not all doom and gloom. I've been moving all our tracks from Vegas to REAPER, and I've really pulled out the magnifying glass and tweaked them. I feel like I've got the just right mix of tools to nail my production style, plus an adventurous feeling of trying some new, "wild" stuff. Like recording my speakers playing a part across the room into a tape deck, then playing it back and recording that. True story.
One of these days I'm going to get back on top of everything. We'll see when that happens.
